“At the end of the day, I love recruiting because I get to have an impact on people’s lives. Recruiting is personal for me, and thankfully, it’s personal for the clients we work with as well.”
Katie Perry has always loved to nurture others and help them grow.
She began her professional career working for a Fortune 500 Staffing company in Wichita, KS. In her time there, she was responsible for multiple areas of business: Employee Relations, Recruiting, Account Management, National Programs, and Training. Her work in Recruiting spanned a variety of industries and skill sets, including: Light Industrial, Manufacturing, Accounting, Administrative, and IT. She became the go-to for recruiting hard-to-fill positions and loved the hands-on work she did with clients.
During her time in the Wichita office, she met Dave, her future husband and an Active Duty Air Force pilot stationed at McConnell AFB. When Dave was given an opportunity to transfer to Whiteman AFB outside of Kansas City, Katie was able to transfer to an office that was nearby.
In her first week in the new office, Katie met her future business partner, Jermaine, who had joined the team to manage a new division focused solely on IT recruiting. Shortly after, Katie was transferred to that team to recruit solely on IT positions. During that time, Katie continued to have responsibility for and oversight of Operations, Training, and National Programs.
Changes in the organization were creating an experience that made it difficult for customers to do business; Katie and Jermaine knew there was a better way to support candidates and clients while being true to their core values as people. It was during this time that they seized the opportunity to start their own company.
Jamison Perry was founded in 2015. Katie spent 2 years in the Kansas City market before Dave was transferred to Creech AFB in Las Vegas. In 2019, Jamison Perry expanded their service offerings to the Las Vegas market.
While Katie didn’t start her career with the intention of falling in love with the Recruiting industry, owning a business in the industry has been a natural fit for her skills and personality. Her joy comes from watching people and businesses that once struggled for a solution find their ideal opportunity or employee. Seeing her candidates and clients improve their lives and businesses continues to fuel her desire to help others solve business problems and be successful.
Katie also serves as the Chapter President for the International Association of Women (IAW) chapters in both Kansas City and Las Vegas. Being a part of IAW gives her an even wider opportunity to impact people. She provides women with the resources and connections they can’t find through other platforms and is humbled by the network she’s built.
In Her Spare Time
When she’s not at work, you can find Katie on the ice with her husband. That’s right. Katie and her husband both play hockey on a Beer League team (it’s actually how they met). Well, she was playing hockey. The couple is expecting their first child in March and while the baby is sure to be born wearing a pair of skates, Katie thought it best that she bench herself until after the baby’s arrival. Her free time is now spent watching sports with Dave, their dog Madi, and their cat Jett.
